Another night wandering the streets of Skingrad

Greetings, fellow travelers.

The quest for greater immersion continues. On my most recent trip to the mod trader at TESNexus I picked up a couple of highly sought-after mods. Natural Environments 2536 and AWLS (Animated Window Lighting System and Chimneys) 5.2.1. I have no doubt that these will transport me even deeper into Immersive Oblivion.

Dusk. The trees have grown.
The lights are on in some of the houses.
The Great Chapel of Julianos at night.
The lights of the Great Chapel stay on all night.
Returning after a day of exploring the countryside.
Vineyard outside the East gates. Getting late now.

For the curious tourist in Tamriel

Greetings, fellow travelers.

When I encounter like-minded individuals on the roads of Tamriel it is not uncommon to be asked what method of propulsion my strange carriage uses. In much the same way as I might ask them the lineage of the magnificent stallion they proudly ride.

At the heart of my beast is a Core i5 750 with 4GB of memory. Sharing the workload is an Nvidia GTX 460 1GB. This makes it possible for The Elder Scrolls IV, itself, to be outfitted with a select group of immersive mods. Unofficial Oblivian Patch 3.2.0, Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul 1.33, Streamline 3.1, Qarl's Texture Pack 3 Redimized, and Immersive Interface 1.03. All thanks to the tireless work of the modders that frequent TesNexus.com and PlanetElderScrolls.gamespy.com.

The tourist snaps on this blog only hint at the rich and immersive world all these mods make possible.

For a fascinating look into the mind behind Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul head over to Traveler Talk at The Elder Scrolls Traveler for an interview with the author of the mod.

Skingrad. Foul weather one day... cloudy the next.

Greetings, fellow travelers.

Today's foul weather in Skingrad gives me an opportunity to catch up with you. The constant rain and fog in the late afternoon makes it difficult to show you any cheery tourist snaps. Rest assured when the weather clears I'll be able to show you just how beautiful this city and the surrounding countryside is.

[the next day]

The rain eventually stopped and allowed me to take a few pics. It was a bit cloudy but good weather to see a little of the countryside.

A better shot of Skingrad Castle and the Great Chapel.
You can just see the walls of Kvatch in the distance.
Part of the merchant quarter of Skingrad.
Love those old stone buildings.
The Great Chapel of Julianos.
Look at that old stonework!
And a guard talking to a citizen in the distance.
An amazing variety of plants are found around Skingrad.
The colours are even brighter on clear sunny days.
